EXPRESS ENTRY PATHWAYS

OVERVIEW

With over 437,000 approved applications by the end of 2022, IRCC has set a record target for 2023 for inviting new permanent residents to Canada. Over 2/3 of those invited fell under the Express Entry (EE) category. Although Express Entry is a broad term that can be subdivided into the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class, there are numerous Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) and Provincial Pilot programs (PNPP) that are able to strongly boost a candidate’s Express Entry Profile to take them out of the initial pool of qualified candidates and be selected for permanent residency in Canada.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum qualifications for Express Entry depend on a number of factors including on the type of programs the candidates are applying for such as the type of EE entry program (FSWP, FSTP and CEC) as well as the condition of the Canadian job market at the time of application. However, the general minimal qualifications for a successful EE profile includes:

       > Age

       > Past Education in the Country of Origin

       > Past Work Experience in the Country of Origin

       > Canadian Education

       > Canadian Work Experience

       > Provincial Nomination

       > Qualifications of Spouse/Partner

       > Connections to Canada

NOTE: You can try doing your own assessment using the government’s Online CRS Calculator. However, this score may not perfectly reflect a candidate’s full potential for qualification for the EE program as there are numerous factors that can influence the IRCC’s decision to invite applicates for permanent residency to Canada.
